Choosing Curtains

Curtains can transform the mood of a room.   There are many different styles to choose from. It can be overwhelming when you think about all the decisions you need to make- fabric, headings, poles, finials, trimmings, borders, fullness... there are endless varieties on offer.  To make things easier we can advise you on these details.  If you want to discuss your ideas with someone please feel free to talk to us at The Linen Shop.

Here are some helpful tips when planning your curtains...

1.  Think of the overall style of the room: Is it traditional, modern, dramatic, relaxed, opulent or minimalist?

2.  Consider the size and shape of the windows.  Do you want to draw focus to them or soften the effect?

3.  How do the furniture and furnishings add to the room?  The colour scheme, the variety of texture, eye-catching patterns etc will influence the curtain fabric.  Do you want the curtain fabric to complement or stand out?

4.  What other benefits do you want?  Interlining will cut down on your energy costs by keeping the heat in and the cold out.  It also creates a richer, warmer look.  Black-out lining will prevent outside lights disturbing your sleep.  Adding a panel of sheer fabric will give you privacy.

Once you have decided on these details you can make the final decisions:
