Edith Pargh Barton BA

"The sculptures I create radiate all the quirkiness of the human personality.
They are meant to be held and touched.
As they are being created, they come to life with their own character and essence shining through.
Standing alone or as a group, they are human-like in their appearance and can lead the observer to wonder what thoughts and feelings each may be having.
Created from fabric and various mixed media, they are truly original and individual beings".

Born in New York, Edith obtained a BA in Fine Art at Long Island University.  After graduating and taking courses in Illustration and Graphic Design at the School of Visual Arts, Manhattan, she went on to California State University to study welding, metal forging, weaving, leather crafting and quilting whilst teaching Art in High School to underprivileged teenagers. She teaches mixed media workshops through community programmes and has had several residencies in schools and in the community.
