Fran White has developed her artistic practice over the past 20 years. In the early 1990s she studied with The Open College of the Arts and City & Guilds before taking a full-time Degree at The Surrey Institute in Farnham U.K. graduating in 1998 in Woven & Printed Textiles.
She has taken drawing and water-colour courses at West Dean and with several Sussex based tutors who taught life drawing, pastels, water colours & acrylics.
Since 2004 she has attended yearly courses at Seawhites tutored by Emily Ball, Katie Sollohub,  Nick Bodimeade, Helen Turner & Gary Goodman.
She is motivated by working amongst and listening to other artists, visiting exhibitions and museums, being open to all sorts of possible leads and getting hooked by a new process or subject.
She is continually researching mark making materials, using acyrlics & mediums as well as graphite, inks, chalk, oil pastels & spray paint on all sorts of surfaces - paper, canvas, cane & linen blinds - often incorporating her own linens as the background or part of the painting.
